Episode 44| Kate Shannon | Creative Resiliency in Your Practice
Kate Shannon, LPC, LCAT, MT-BC is the host of the Creative Therapy Umbrella podcast. She offers therapist support services, private practice services and continuing education. She has spent her career supporting children with life-limiting medical diagnoses, mental health needs, and developmental differences through music therapy, play and creative expression. Kate is passionate about incorporating play therapy skills into the music therapy space and helps other therapists learn how to support healthy social and emotional development through these skills. Kate also loves working with adults utilizing inner child work, attachment-based therapy, mindfulness and creativity. Besides creating music, she loves to knit, needle felt, read, play video games and spend time with her family.
In this episode, Kate talks about the role of creative resiliency and entrepreneurship. She shares at least 5 tips to build your own creative resiliency practice. My favorite is her practice of scheduling in 30 minutes of "boredom" time into her calendar which help her to slow down and allow the inspiration to flow. She also shares how she is working to offer CE's for music therapists through her podcast, The Creative Therapy Umbrella and the Music Therapy Podcast Collective.
