The Creative Psychotherapist Podcast
I have to be completely transparent here. I invited my next guests to the show because they are going to be teaching the 20 hour Mastering the Meaning of Mandalas Course at my practice April 17-19 2020. I took the course last year and was blown away by how much I learned and how it changed the lens in which I view the world including client artwork.

Carol Thayer Cox is a retired board-certified art therapist, educator, and writer. She is former faculty of the graduate art therapy program at George Washington University, was the assistant director there for 10 years, and has taught at Vermont College of Norwich University and Pratt Institute of Art & Design. She is the author and editor of many works. (See resources below for links to several books available on Amazon.) She seeks to understand how communication, whether through art, dance, music, or words can offer healing.

Amy Bucciarelli is a board certified art therapist and Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She and Carol have been co-teaching the course on Mandalas together for several years, after being trained and supervised by Carol. Amy has used mandalas in her personal self-exploration and as an effective tool with a variety of patients including those experiencing various types of addictive behaviors, psychiatric illness, and in medical facilities. She is currently on the faculty of the University of Florida's Center for the Arts in Medicine https://arts.ufl.edu/academics/center-for-arts-in-medicine/ where she teaches courses about arts in health, creative theory, compassion, design thinking, and innovation. She also runs Art & Acupuncture workshops and Therapeutic Hand Paper-making workshops. She holds the belief that creativity is a lifestyle that promotes personal balance and well-being.
